From August 7 to 23, a research group of 20 postgraduate and undergraduate students from the school of textile science and engineering, school of fashion and the State Key Laboratory went to Cambridge University, England, to carry out a 16-day overseas research practice project, which was the first in-depth visit of our students to the world's top institutions of higher education.
This project is hosted by St. Edmund College, Cambridge University. After sufficient communication and negotiation in the early stage, the main course content includes cutting-edge technologies in textile intelligent manufacturing, the development and application prospects of textile and clothing fibers, nanotechnology, and new materials, etc. Through cutting-edge academic lectures, themed lectures, practical workshops, group presentations and other diverse teaching methods, innovative learning and scientific exploration have been achieved under the mechanism of cross-cultural communication and exchange. The students participating in the project are officially registered by the University of Cambridge and reside in international student apartments, enjoying the same treatment and public resources as current students, and obtaining the official graduation certificate and transcript from the University of Cambridge. Some outstanding students have also received recommendation letters from professors at the University of Cambridge, laying an important foundation for their future studies abroad and enhancing their academic foundation.
In addition to studying and training, the students of the study group actively integrated into the local customs and participated in a series of rich and colorful cultural experience activities. Under the guidance of local teachers and students, everyone can fully appreciate the natural scenery and cultural landscape of British towns; Explore the ocean of knowledge in the solemn Bodleian Library, attend ancient high table dinners in the elegant European style college restaurant, and experience the unique British culture; Boating along the Cambridge River with young friends of different skin colors and countries, sharing Cambridge history and spinning stories with each other. Through cultural sharing and emotional resonance, a bridge of cultural exchange between Chinese and British youth has been built, showcasing the beautiful style of contemporary Chinese university students on the world stage.
